The beautiful little island of Chalki (Halki)is situated about 35 nautical miles west of the island of Rhodes and is just 5 miles from the promontory of Monolithos on that island. Halki is one of the smallest of the Dodecanese group of islands but has a wonderful 34 km of coastline.There is no airport on Halki island.The closest airport is located on Rhodes, which receives daily and frequent flights from the International Airport of Athens and many charter flights from abroad.
Ferries and boats leave from Rhodes and reach Halki in about an hour.

ACCOMODATION
There is not that much choice on Halki for people that want to book a hotel or apartment. Atlantis Houses is a complex of typical traditional houses of Halki. The totally renovated residence overlooks the breathtaking bay of Halki and the beautiful landscape of the island. Its apartments have white-washed walls, carefully selected furniture and wooden floors. Each includes a kitchenette with dining area.
The capital of Halki is Nimporio, with has daily boat connections with Skala Kamirou, a small port in Rhodes.

Boat trips lasts for about an hour, although there are also normal ferries from Piraeus and Rhodes Town. Nimporio is actually the only village in Halki island, as the former capital, Chorio, was gradualy abandoned. Above Chorio, there is a steep rock with a Medieval castle on top, offering the best view of the Aegean Sea.FACILITIES
The village and Medieval castle have both electricity, running water , natural gas provided by the local mayor . There are good roads leading throught the village or up to the castle , all equipment will be carried by car. « mai multe referate din Engleza
